consultant to the Faculty of Judicial and Political Sciences in the Universidad
de los Andes, Intellectual Property, as thesis judge.

permanent advisor to the Universidad del Zulia Council, assigned to the
Administrative Vicerectorade of said University The activities were focused on
finding and retaining of inventions developed by the University and the
transfer of technology through the country.

From 1979 to 1984 worked as
advisor to CONICIT as a member of the Chemical Science Commission for the
evaluation of national projects.

for the Technological Investigations Council of Colombia, to establish a
national plan of investigation in catalysis according to the National Plan of
Science and Technology. Priority areas were defined and established accoridng
to the needs of the country, the goals and challenges, and the respective

4.- Developed and Transferred Technologies:

INT-R1â: Catalizer for the
demetalizing and desulfuring of residual and heavy crudes with high capacity
for retention and storage of metals. Manufactured on the commercial level with Akzo
Chemical.

INT-R2â: Catalizer for the
demetalizing of CXP with low production of coke. Manufactured at the commercial
level and the formula was marketed.
·
INT-GOV-10â e INT-GOV-20â: Catalizers for the HDS/HDN of heavy vacuum
gasoils and gasoils from craqueo
processes.
·
HHCä:
Catalitic Process to hydrotreat gasoils. Technology in PDVSA portfolio.
·
DISOLâ:
Technology to convert natural gas into high grade diesel. Technology in commercial
demonstration phase in PDVSA.

BIOTECHNOLOGY: Development of a process to
produce diesel zero sulfur. Currently in development stage.

NEW USES
OF PETROLEUM: Conversion of heavy crude in advanced
carbon materials to extend the life of the base of heavy crude resources.

Development of technology at the commercial level to convert CXP to synthesis
gas and hydrogen using solar thermochemistry.

that have originated 74 world patents. Four of the inventions have been
marketed by PDVSA and bought by Exxon for their USA and England refineries.
These catalizers were also used by Lagoven for their HDS1 & 2 units, to
protect the catalizer from conventional hydrosulfurization.

Chemical Science of CONICIT (1980), IBM
Science and Technology Award (1984 - 1985) Colombian Petroleum Award (1985) and
Achievement Award, first class (1998).

Has been postulate to the
National Science Award of Venezuela and of the Technological Development of the
United Nations, and is a member of the Academy of Science of New York.

In March 2001, receives the
award for oustanding performance in the publication of scientific,

1 .- Establishment of the mechanism of
surface activation of phosphorus in the CoMo and NiMo catalysts supported on
alumina. These catalytic systems are the basis for producing and refining
petroleum products. The action of phosphorus possible to reduce coke production
and extend the lifespan of those with a consequent saving of foreign exchange
for the oil industry.
2 .- Discovery of the mechanism of
demetallization reactions by heavy crude oils using models ofl extracted
porphyrins from petroleum oil,, which allowed to extrapolate the basic results
for the production of active catalysts for this process.
3 .- Development of technological processes
for improving heavy crude from the Orinoco Belt, enabling worldwide recognition
for the positioning of Venezuela in that area.
4 .- Production of catalysts from laboratory
level to industrial or commercial level. Being first in the country that
reaches such a level for such products of high commercial value and strategic
importance to Venezuela.
5 .- The technological developments of the
applicant in the areas of applied catalysis, processes heavy crude hydrotreatment
and commercial scale catalysts, first allowed to market and license a
Venezuelan technology internationally. Four (4) of his inventions have been
commercialized by PDVSA and purchased by Exxon for its U.S. refineries and

manufacture of catalytic systems, allowed PDVSA sales of several million
dollars.

The technological developments of the
applicant in the areas of applied catalysis, processes of hydrotreatment of
heavy crude and commercial scale catalysts, allowed for first time to market
and license a Venezuelan technology internationally. Four (4) of his inventions
have been commercialized by PDVSA and purchased by Exxon for its U.S.
refineries and England (Fowles). The license given to Akzo Chemical, Holland
for the manufacture of catalytic systems, allowed PDVSA sales of several
